Federal cut could cost DMH $250,000 annually

Before last week, most Taylor County residents, along with a majority of Floridians, probably had never heard of the federal Low Income Pool (LIP) healthcare program.

But now the program has become one of the major stumbling blocks as the Florida Legislature struggles to balance the state’s budget as well as the focus of a lawsuit filed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott against the federal government.
