X marks the spot

Many residents have wondered about the brightly painted “Xs” marking downtown sidewalks and curbs along Jefferson Street.

This week, they got their answer when construction crews began working to tear up the sidewalks and prepare to replace them.

PHOTO: The loud beat of jackhammers will be heard up and down Jefferson Street as crews work to replace sidewalks and curbs which have deemed safety hazards.
