Teen injured by sturgeon

A Fanning Springs teen was injured Sunday by a jumping sturgeon on the Suwannee River.

Heavyn L. Nash, 14, was riding with her mother and grandfather when a 4 to 6-foot sturgeon leapt out of the water and into the boat, hitting the girl, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers. She was knocked unconscious.
