Dismissal motions filed in McLeod- Denmark lawsuit

In motions filed this week in federal court, Sheriff L.E. “Bummy” Williams and Perry Police Chief Jamie Cruse are seeking to have portions of a 28-count complaint filed by former Madison police officer William Daniel McLeod Jr. and local firefighter Jeremy Denmark dismissed.

Other officers named in the lawsuit—Madison police officer Benton Ebberson, Perry Police Department (PPD) Det. Sgt. Gene Franklin, Det. Dwight Norris and Ptl. Chad Cannon, and Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TSCO) Dept. Lindsey Shaw and reserve deputy Brian Cruse—also filed motions for dismissal. The City of Perry is also named in the complaint.
