    New school funding axed

    Posted on June 17, 2015

With the Florida House and Senate reaching a budget deal late Monday evening, it appears the final nail has been placed into the coffin of the Taylor County School District’s hopes of receiving state funding for a new primary school this year.

Both sides of the legislature are currently waiting for the end of the mandated “cooling-off” period and are expected to hold respective votes on the budget Friday, one day prior to the close of the special session which was necessary after the House and Senate failed to reach a compromise before the end of the regular session. The budget, if approved as expected, will then be sent to Gov. Rick Scott to sign.
