A grand jury indicted Garrett A. Arrowood, 26, for first degree capital murder Monday afternoon (June 29) in relation to the shooting death of his aunt, Shelly O’Steen Strickland, 50.
Arrowood was also indicted for armed burglary of an occupied dwelling, dealing in stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Perry resident was arrested late Saturday and charged with an open count of murder.
“They already had a grand jury in session Monday, and the state attorney’s office decided to go ahead and present this case,” Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Capt. Marty Nowlin said.
Family members found Strickland’s body at her home on O’Steen Road shortly before noon Wednesday, June 24.
