UPDATED: SR 51 closed again after sinkhole expands

UPDATE: According to Taylor County Emergency Management, FDOT has again closed SR 51 at the sink hole three miles north of Steinhatchee.

“The existing sinkhole began to expand Saturday and is now affecting the south bound lane,” Emergency Management Director Steve Spradley said. “The same detour as before will be in affect, south to Jena Road (358) or Beach Road (361).”

PREVIOUS:

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has re-opened one lane of SR 51 between Steinhatchee and Tennille after a sinkhole closed the highway last weekend.

According to Taylor County Emergency Management Director Steve Spradley, FDOT will have a flagman at the site through the weekend.
