Local and state leaders joined Duke Energy to celebrate the groundbreaking of the company’s new five-megawatt Perry Solar Facility Friday morning.

The threat of severe weather forced the event indoors in the Taylor County Elementary School (TCES) media center, but did not dampen the spirits of those in attendance, who celebrated the company’s partnership with the city, county and school district.
