    LouElla Jenkins Shaw Ward

    LouElla Jenkins Shaw Ward, 92, died Dec. 31, 2017, in Perry. LouElla was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Perry to Charlie Parkill Jenkins and Mable Claire Johnson Jenkins.

    LouElla was of the Baptist faith and was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was church pianist and Sunday School teacher for over half a century. She and her family owned and operated Shaw’s Seafood in Perry for more than 50 years. She was a pillar of her church and community, who dedicated her life to the welfare and service of others. Her love encompassed enumerable people in need throughout her lifetime. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing on the Suwannee River and growing vegetables in her garden, often for those who were in need.

    LouElla was preceded in death by: her husbands, Clinton Shaw and Donald Ward; her parents, Charlie Parkill and Mable Claire Jenkins; brothers, J.M. Jenkins, Edward Jenkins, Doyle Jenkins; and sisters Maedell Murphy, Lena Murphy, and Sarah Poppell.

    She is survived by: her sons, Wayne Shaw (Esther), Rod Shaw (Ruth), Randy Shaw, and Tim Shaw (Liseth); brothers, A.C. Jenkins, and Gene Jenkins; sister, Charlene Swartley; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Ben Kimmell officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Mingo Cemetery in Jena. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
