Dorothy “Dolly” Wight Stringer was born on Aug. 30, 1965, at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, Ga. She passed away on Nov. 5, 2021.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, Ann Faircloth Wight and James Slater Wight Jr., and her brother, James Slater Wight III.
She is survived by: her husband of 30 years, Albert Lamar (Bud) Stringer III; children, Albert IV and Slater; and sisters, Margaret Wight Binkley (Jeff) and Azalee Wight Vereen; as well as Bud’s loving family and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Cairo High School and received her masters’s degree from Valdosta State University.
Since 2010, she was employed by Turning Point Hospital in Moultrie as director of Women’s Programs and most recently, Inpatient Services.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed involvement in many local charities. Dolly will be remembered most as a devoted wife and loving mother who never met a stranger. Throughout her courageous battle with cancer, she was an inspiration to many.
The family received visitors at Ashburn Hill Plantation on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Moultrie on Monday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m.
Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Moultrie Chapter of National Alliance of Mental Illness or to the First Presbyterian Church.
