    D.C. Hudson

    Posted on February 17, 2023

D.C. Hudson, My loving husband, D.C. Hudson, went to be home with our Precious Lord on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023. He was the love of my life for 54 years. We were high school sweethearts and were married on June 15, 1968. A week after we were married, he left to go to Vietnam. He served in the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division, in combat in the jungles of Vietnam. He was a true and brave soldier that loved and proudly served his country until the day he left this world. He was our hero, although he never claimed to be. We had two beautiful children, Ricky and Amy. We were both so happy and God blessed us in so many ways. From falling in love and having two children, our family then grew to 18 grandkids and 12 greatgrandchildren, and how we loved and adored them all. D.C. would do anything for anyone without a moments notice. From helping fix a car to riding his nieces in his Mustang through downtown Perry with the windows down and Johnny B. Good playing on the tape wide open – he didn’t care how loud it was, he just knew the girls were having the time of their lives. They’d pull back onto our road in Sirmans and stop in the middle of the road, get out dancing to the Twist – he was dancing along with them with everyone in the neighborhood watching. He enjoyed those moments. He loved driving that car and would take anyone for a ride – just make sure you hold on because he was going to cut some donuts and leave rubber on the pavement. Me, my children, our precious grandchildren, his sisters, our entire family and friends are heartbroken and ask for prayers in the ongoing days as we navigate this life without him but we know that we will be together again in that beautiful place being prepared for us called “Heaven.” D.C. was preceded in death by: his father, L.G. Hudson; his mother, Ethel V. Hudson Terrill; stepfather, Finley Terrill; and brothers, Ronnie Wayne, George Hudson and Dale Terrill. He is survived by: his wife of 54 years, Dot Hudson; their son, Ricky (Amanda) Hudson and their daughter Amy (Larry) English; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Carolyn Hoover, Rose (Enoch) Benefield, Kaye Thompson and Debby (Colon) Carter. D.C. will be fondly remembered by his brothers-and-sisters-inlaw, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who thought the world of him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16, at Burns Funeral Chapel in Perry at 11 a.m. with Elder Gary Blanton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Internment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Shady Grove, FL. Burns Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
