Anne Wall Williams of Tallahassee passed away at the age of 88 on April 16, 2023.
Anne was born in Plains, Ga., on May 31, 1934.
During her childhood her family moved to Blakely, Ga.
She graduated Valedictorian from Blakely High School.
Anne met her lifelong love Dr. Elvin B. (“E.B.”) Williams and married in 1954. During their marriage they lived in various places, including Bainbridge, Ga., and multiple places in Florida.
“E.B.” proceeded her in death in 2003. After his death she remained in Gainesville (Fla.) until she decided to move closer to her daughter, Cathy Williams.
At this time she lived in Gainesville, Ga.
In 2022, she moved back to her beloved Tallahassee and was a resident at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community.
Anne was also proceeded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. W. H. Wall Sr. of Blakely, Ga.
Her surviving relatives include one brother, Dr. W. H. Wall Jr. of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and children, Dr. Scott M. Williams (JoAnn) of Galveston, Texas, Edward “Ed” B. Williams of Tallahassee and Catherine “Cathy” A. Willams of Pensacola.
She also has four surviving grandchildren, Michael (Teresa), Allison, Andrew (Francisco) and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren Liam, Joshua, Parker and Benjamin.
Anne loved her family and was very proud of each and every one of them. She will be dearly missed. She was an accomplished seamstress, even sewing her wedding dress and a suit for “E.B.”
She loved to knit, read, travel and spend time with her family.
She attended Georgia State College for Women, the University of Alabama, Florida State University and University of South Florida with her highest earned degree being a specialist (Ed.S) in education.
During her career she taught K-5 elementary school and worked as a federal program manager and auditor for the Florida Department of Education.
After her retirement she traveled the state of Florida selling professional educational teaching materials.
During retirement she traveled extensively all over the world.
She also enjoyed spending time at the family waterfront condo in Perdido Key (Fla.) and later a mountain home, “Anne’s Lakeview Hideaway,” in Highlands, N.C. She loved Highlands, N.C. and had traveled there since childhood.
Anne was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa and Phi Beta Kappa. She also participated in Toastmasters, an all women’s investment club, the United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Club.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24, at Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. , with the funeral service starting at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Blakely Cemetery in Blakely at 3:30 p.m.
