Michael “Mike” Allen Waldorf, 68, of Perry passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee. Mike was born in Quantico, Va., on March 20, 1955, to Ernest Sheldon Waldorf and Sandra Diane Allen. As the son of a Marine, Mike lived in many states before moving to Perry as a teenager and calling it home. He spent many years in the carpentry industry and was a master woodworker. His detailed carvings are cherished by many. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors. He liked to hunt for game and artifacts. He loved to fish and take long rides in the woods. When he wasn’t outdoors, he could be found inside watching his favorite show, Gunsmoke, or one of the many other westerns he enjoyed. If you knew Mike, you knew he was a huge Rolling Stones fan and could always be seen wearing his “Stones Cowboy Hat.” Mike cherished his family and was a good friend to many, forming lifelong friendships that lasted many years. He loved them all wholeheartedly and truly enjoyed every minute spent with his family and friends. He loved to joke around and have fun with everyone all the time. His fun personality and wild spirit will be missed by all that knew and loved him. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Sheldon Waldorf and Sandra Diane Allen; his brother, David Waldorf; and his first wife, Karen Aman Baker. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his daughter, Amber Roach (Tim) of Perry; his sister, Barbara Saxon (Sylva) of Pensacola; longtime girlfriend, Angela Padgett Battles of Perry; granddaughter, Miranda Miles (Zak) of Dothan, Ala.; three greatgrandchildren, Athan and Tatum Miller, and Tristan Miles of Dothan, Ala.; niece, Codye Swaim of Pensacola; and lifelong best friend, Michael Padgett (Susan) of Perry. Also left to cherish the memory of “Papa Mike” is his blended family: Jeremy, Hallie, Carson and Zoey Richardson of Greensboro, N.C., and Scott Howell Jr. (Little Scotty) of Asheboro, N.C. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Big Bend Hospice for their hard work, dedication and compassion. A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
