Mitchel Thomas Kinsey, also known as Pete, Uncle Pete, Mr. Pete and George, but most importantly “Poppy,” 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at home in Perry.
He was born Aug. 31, 1953, in Perry Florida to Freddie and Helen Kinsey.
Pete married the love of his life Donna Kinsey on June 15, 1975. The proudest accomplishment of his life was building his family with his wife. The more time he could spend with them, the fuller his life became.
He retired from Buckeye after 42 years of dedicated service.
Pete was a very traditional man and lived a full life marked by his passion for the outdoors. An avid hunter, fisherman and tractor rider, he was also renowned for his skill in boiling peanuts, a craft he perfected over many years.
His sarcasm and wit could entertain any room. But he preferred his audience in his dining room. His spur of the moment ditty’s were always a hit. He is known for his mad fencing skills and the ability to fall off of a tractor in style (twice)…
Pete was preceded in death by: his parents, Freddie and Helen Kinsey; brothers, Joey and Eddie; sister, Norma; and great-grandson, Tate.
He loved being “Poppy” and leaves behind a cherished legacy.
He will be deeply missed by: his wife, Donna; his daughters, Melissa (son-in-love, Jimmy) and Julie (son-in-love, Corey); his grandchildren, Grant Marah (grandson-in-love, Kendall), Hunter, Gracee, Brylee and Wyatt; one great-granddaughter, Lowynn; a sister, Carol (Arnold); sister-in-law, Beth; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome friends at 10:00 am on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Burns Funeral Home in Perry, FL. A funeral service to honor Pete to follow at 11:00 AM, with Bro Cody McNeese officiating. Burial will be immediately afterward at Carlton Cemetery.
