Couple loses home in boat fire

Steinhatchee residents Dave Jensen and Karen “Kinks” Evans, who rode out 2023’s Hurricane Idalia aboard their boat, escaped with their lives, but lost everything when their vessel, the “Scintilla,” caught fire and burned Monday. The couple lived aboard the boat full-time with their dog, Bandit (who also escaped unharmed). “This is our dream, our home. We were so close to completing our restoration and starting our planned trip,” Evans said. A GoFundMe account has been established for the couple.
