    James Clyde Grantham

    James Clyde Grantham, 88, of Perry, passed away on Dec. 7, 2024. He was born on March 31, 1936, in Perry, where he spent all of his life. Clyde was a hardworking individual who dedicated many years in water treatment, proudly working with Procter & Gamble. He was a man of many passions. He found joy in the great outdoors, spending countless hours f ishing and hunting. A talented musician, he loved writing songs and singing, often found strumming his guitar at home or sharing his gift at his church. For 34 years, he played at his church, sharing his love for music as an expression of his faith. His deep love for the Lord Jesus inspired him to read the Bible regularly, finding strength and solace in its teachings. He was involved with his family as a commercial f isherman. He and his wife owned and operated a fish market in Perry for many years. He was elected as the first “Mullet King” during the mullet festival at Keaton Beach when it began in 1977. He is preceded in death by: his parents, John and Americus Grantham; two brothers, James Lee and Larry Dixon; his sister, Wilda Faye Ward and her husband, Kenneth Ward; and a nephew, Randall Keith Ward. Clyde is survived by: his beloved spouse of 44 years, Linda Grantham, who journeyed through life with him side by side; his daughters, Diane Bass, Barbara Weaver and her husband, Luke, Brenda Blanton, Donna and Phillip Rogers, and Robbie Brim; his brother, Billy Grantham and his wife, Christine; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Clyde will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at Carlton Cemetery with Pastors Charles “B.B.” Barwick, Herbie High and Cricket Watson officiating. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating the life of a cherished husband, father, brother, friend and community member. Clyde’s spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
