Alice Graham Brady, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on March 9, 2025 in Tallahassee.
She was born in Taylor County to parents Lewis and Hazel Sheffield Graham.
Their family later moved to Havana, Fla., in her early childhood, where they ran the Havana Motel & Restaurant while she was a student in the Gadsden County schools.
Following graduation, she attended Norman Park Junior College and soon thereafter began her fairytale love story with John T. Brady Jr.
They were married in 1965 at First Baptist Church of Havana.
Eventually, Alice and John made Tallahassee their home while starting their family.
She was outnumbered and her hands full with her husband and two boys, but she wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Although running the household was a full-time job in itself, Alice also began her successful career in state government upon moving to Tallahassee; initially at the Secretary of State’s office.
Her determination and dedication to any role or responsibility she was given led to her continued growth in the Florida state government system.
She was proud that despite any political or party changes, her place at work always remained steadfast and her value was recognized by all.
Alice retired in 1999 as bureau chief of the Department of Professional and Business Regulation.
Most important to Alice was her faith, which she exemplified by her various church memberships and involvements in their choirs, kitchens and committees serving her community and those in need.
Beyond her church families, she always made time for any events or outings that revolved around her own family.
Alice also had a knack for expanding her family; often welcoming neighbors and friends alike into the Brady family fold.
As her sons’ circle of friends grew, so did her family. No matter what, she made sure all were welcome and given a seat at the table.
Alice was an active member of the Red Hat Society, as well as the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served many roles within several chapters of the organization.
Despite all the commitments and duties Alice lovingly took on, she would still find time for hobbies like knitting or sewing.
Alice is now reunited in Heaven with her parents; her beloved husband, John T. Brady Jr.; son, Danny Brady; and sister, Carol Jean Graham, whom she has missed for nearly 70 years.
She leaves behind her son, Chip Brady (Lisa); granddaughter, Heather Brady; and a host of cousins.
She will be remembered by all that were privileged enough to know her for her heart of gold, tenacity and dedication to living by the true Christian example.
The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Bevis Funeral Home of Tallahassee on Thursday, March 13, at 1 p.m. with a funeral service to immediately follow at 2 p.m.
Interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery of Havana at the conclusion of the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Children’s Home or to Big Bend Hospice.
