Robert ‘R.C.’ Franklin Chester It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert “R.C.” Franklin Chester, who left this world April 24, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on May 27, 1961, Robert lived a life filled with passion, adventure and love for the great outdoors. He was of the Christian faith. He will be remembered fondly for his warm spirit and his love for hunting, fishing and all things that allowed him to immerse himself in the beauty of nature. Robert was a dedicated welder in the fabrication industry at RDS Manufacturing for many years, where his skills and work ethic were recognized and respected by his peers. He took pride in creating with his hands and building things that would stand the test of time. Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was a beloved husband to Sandy Chester, with whom he shared unwavering love and companionship, as well as operating Goodman’s Barbecue. Together, they created a life filled with laughter, shared adventures and cherished memories. He is also survived by: his sons, Cade Chester and Patrick Connell; his daughter, Heidi Chester; his grandchildren, Caden Schweiger, Jada Schweiger and Trinity Chester; his great granddaughter; his brother, Tim Chester; his mother-in-law, Mama Drucilla Sands; nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dot Chester; his infant brother, Hayward Chester; and his sister-inlaw, Sarah Chester. As we celebrate Robert’s life, we invite all who knew and loved him to join us in commemorating his journey. A memorial service will be held in his honor Wednesday, April 30, at 4:30 p.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of his spirit and the joy he brought into our lives. In this time of reflection, we will share stories, laughter and fond memories of Robert, embracing the legacy he leaves behind. Though he has departed from us, his love for the outdoors and the cherished moments spent under the sun, in the woods and by the water will forever remain in our hearts. Robert Franklin Chester will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. May he find peace in the wild places he loved so dearly.
