In addition to receiving confirmation that federal funding has been released to remove broken channel markers in the Keaton Beach channel, County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton reported the first metal walkway and loading dock has been installed at Keaton Beach public boat ramp. The county expects to sign a notice to proceed with another contractor Monday to begin work on Steinhatchee’s public boat ramp dock, with the first dock expected to be in place within 30 days.
After several weeks of an all-out push by county staff, state and national elected officials and private citizens, County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton received word on Friday, May 9 that federal funding has been released to remove damaged markers in the main Keaton Beach channel.
