Although the final statewide results were too close to call as of 9 p.m. Tuesday, Republicans Ashley Moody, Austin Rogers and Byron Donalds easily carried Taylor County in Tuesday’s general election.

In the race for U.S. Senator, Moody picked up 75.95% of the Taylor County vote (5,295 votes), compared to 23.31% for Democrat Angie Nixon (23.31%) in Taylor County. Neil J. Gillespie (NPA) had 52 votes locally (0.75%).

In the race for U.S. Representative, Rogers received 74.47% of the Taylor County vote, while Democrat Amanda Marie Green received 25.53%.

In the race for Florida Governor, Donalds picked up 74.59% of the Taylor County vote, while Democrat David Jolly earned 24.10%.

Fellow Republicans James Uthmeier, Blaise Ingoglia and Wilton Simpson each carried Taylor County by similar margins in the races for Florida Attorney General, Florida Chief Financial Officer and Florida Commissioner of Agriculture respectively.

As for the three proposed constitutional amendments (which must receive 60% of the statewide vote to pass), Taylor County voters rejected Amendment 1 (Budget Stabilization Fund) with 58.66% voting no and just 41.34% voting yes.

However, Amendments 2 (Agricultural property-tax exemption) received 70.48% approval in Taylor County, while Amendment 3 (Homestead Property Tax Exemption) received 68.56% approval.

The local unofficial votes did not include roughly 20 provisional ballots that will be counted on Thursday.
