    Janet Mae Hopkins

    Janet Mae Hopkins, best known as “Jan” to all of her friends, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 22, 2026, just shy of her 84th birthday. Janet was born on January 27, 1942, in Darby, Pennsylvania, to William Spence and May Prescott Spence.

    After High School, Jan went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in education and Majored in Mathematics at West Chester College, she also earned a Masters of Theology, Bachelor’s of Theology from Christian Life of Theology School in Philadelphia PA. She married C.F. “Jimmie” Hopkins. Jimmie & Jan moved to Perry in the early 1990’s from Fort Myers, FL and she worked in the Taylor County Clerk of Courts’ office for many years. She was a member of the Perry Kiwanis Club where she served as the club secretary. Jan was also a long time and faithful member of Evangel Christian Fellowship in Perry. She taught college bible classes at the church several years as well as bible studies with home groups for many years. She loved Playing her Piano. She sang and played piano for praise and worship and weddings. Most of allShe was known as a prayer warrior. Even her hobby adventures shopping yard sales looking for hidden treasures she always took the opportunity to pray for people before parting ways.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents, William & May Spence; and her husband, Jimmie Hopkins.

    Jan is survived by: her spiritual son and daughter, Jeff & Teresa Myers, of Perry; grandchildren Justin (Melissa) Myers, Cameron (Dusty) McLeod, Tessa (Garrett) Allen, 8 adopted great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. step daughter, Lynn (Todd) Rehrig & her children Chelsea (Damien) Skinner, Johnathon Sheehan and his fiancé Kayla

    We invite all who knew Janet to come together for a Celebration of her Life at 3:00PM on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in the Burns Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Perry. Pastor Justin Webb will be presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evangel Christian Fellowship. Join us as we gather to share stories, laugh, and remember a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many. Janet Mae Hopkins will be dearly missed.
