God has gained another angel.
With profound sadness, we share with you the passing of our mother/wife/grandmother/great-grandmother/aunt and friend, Mrs. Eleanor Louise Grubbs, 84, on Feb. 16, 2026.
Though we were not prepared to let her leave us, and our hearts are shattered, we know she is in a better place, looking upon us with a smile and that ever-so-kind, gentle, one-hand wave.
It brings us a sense of peace to know we were able to surround her with love until her last breath.
We are grateful we were given the opportunity to share brief periods of time with her before the Lord took her home. We will cherish those last moments forever.
To know her, was to love her.
She never met a stranger, and truly embraced each day with grace. Her relationship with God was strong, and her love for her family was unwavering. She loved fiercely.
Eleanor was a member of New Home Baptist Church and a stay-at-home mom, who later enrolled in college to become a licensed practical nurse.
It gave her great enjoyment to do what she loved, and she loved people.
If you knew our mom, she was a hoot to be around, and there was never a dull moment.
Her smile was contagious, and she had this way about her that made you feel like everything would be okay, no matter the situation.
She always said, “Trust in the Lord, it will all work out.” And she was always right.
Eleantor was born April 21, 1941, in Panhandle, Texas, to parents Grace Leona Craig-Killingsworth and Austin Elisworth Tucker.
She married the love her life, Louie F. Grubbs of Perry, in Amarillo, Texas, in 1959.
The two of them created homes and made memories while Louie served in the United States Air Force.
They settled in Perry after Louie retired from military service in 1976.
They shared the birth of their four children: Stephen C. Grubbs, married to Pinky Grubbs with children, Bradley and Brandon Grubbs, and Louise Villamor; Gregory D. Grubbs, married to Judy Grubbs with daughter, Sabrina Hilton and stepson Timothy Bell; Tiffanee A. Grubbs Padgett, married to Tater Padgett, with children, Logan Padgett, Dusty Padgett and Caleb Padgett; and Laura L. Grubbs with children, Landon Grubbs and Eleanor G. Grubbs.
She is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her in their hearts forever.
The family invites you to share a time of remembrance and a celebration of her life during a visitation planned Friday, Feb. 20, from 6-8 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home and funeral services planned Saturday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church, followed by interment at Pisgah Cemetery.
