Douglas ‘Doug’ M. Farmer
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas “Doug” M. Farmer, who departed this life on March 15, 2026, at 77 years old
Doug was born at home in Perry to J.C. and Grace Farmer on Oct. 8, 1948.
He proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran, an experience that stayed with him throughout his life and shaped much of the man he became.
He was a lifelong mechanic, also working as a carpenter and truck driver.
He loved running dogs, fishing and riding dirt roads. He also enjoyed old cars and old country music, often listening to the songs that told stories of life, love and hard times – stories he understood well.
He is survived by his loving family, including: a sister, June Cruce; two daughters, Misty (David) Leggett and Elizabeth Moffat, all of Perry; three grandsons, Lil. David, Ethan and Wyatt; one granddaughter, Austyn; one great-granddaughter, Luna; and host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, J.C. (James) Farmer and Grace Hibbetts (Straw); a sister, Caroline (Teeny); his son, Joshua; and two grandchildren.
Though his path was not always simple and life brought its share of challenges, Doug leaves behind a legacy of determination, hard work and perseverance.
He led a life that he lived on his own terms, and lived to the fullest.
He will be remembered for his strength, his stories and the moments he spent doing the things he loved most.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 10, at 9:30 a.m. at Lighthouse Revival Center.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Robbie Lou Moran
Robbie Lou Moran, a beloved wife, mother and daughter from Hahira, Ga., and a cherished resident of Perry, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on Nov. 15, 1945, Robbie was a beacon of warmth and love in the lives of all who knew her.
As a devoted secretary for the Taylor County School Board, Robbie’s gentle spirit and unwavering dedication touched countless lives.
She had a rare gift for making every moment special, particularly in the kitchen, where she poured her heart into cooking for her family. Each meal was a testament to her love, infused with flavors and memories that will linger in the hearts of her loved ones.
Robbie’s talent extended beyond the kitchen; she found joy in sewing and cross-stitching, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and attention to detail. These handcrafted treasures will serve as lasting reminders of a woman who stitched love into every fabric of her life.
Robbie was preceded in death by: her parents, Wilbur Chadwick and Bessie Chadwick; her brother, Larry Eugene Chadwick; her son, James “Jamie” Donald Moran Jr.; a granddaughter, Christie Leigh May; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Lee Hilson.
She is survived by: her devoted husband of 65 years, James Donald Moran; her children, Connie Cruce (Joseph), Gary Moran (Kim) and Jeffrey Moran (Jessica); her grandchildren, Amber Love (Kelly), Daniel May (Samantha), Brittani Widner (Casey), Brooke McDaniel (Matthew), Mackenzie Moran and Alexis Moran; her great-grandchildren, Chase Love, James May, Kinsley McDaniel and Jameson McDaniel; and her sister, Jennifer Elliott; as well as a host of brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Together, they will carry the legacy of her kindness and the joy she brought into their lives.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11, at the First Baptist Church of Perry at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steven Ruff officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 18, at 11 a.m. at the Gillette Cemetery in Palmetto. It will be a time for sharing stories, reflecting on her incredible journey and embracing the love she so effortlessly shared.
We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a remarkable woman whose legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those she cherished.
Rest in peace, Robbie Lou Moran. Your love and light will remain with us always.

James ‘Richard’ Sanders
James “Richard” Sanders Sr., 87, of Cross City passed away on April 8, 2026.
He was born on May 9, 1938, to the late J. B. and Mildred Sanders in Cross City.
Mr. Sanders dedicated 45 years of service as a lab technician, first with Procter & Gamble and later with Buckeye Cellulose, retiring as lab manager.
He was a proud 60-year member of Joppa Masonic Lodge No. 4 and a faithful member of Rock Sink Baptist Church, both in Old Town.
He will always be remembered for his love of his family, especially the time he cherished with family and friends at the mouth of the Suwannee River.
Mr. Sanders is survived by: his wife of 69 years, Mary Jane Sanders; his sons, James “Ricky” Sanders, Jr. (Robin) and Martin Conway Sanders (Bernadine); his brothers, Johnny Sanders, Charles Sanders, David Sanders and Steve Sanders; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joel Sanders and Curtis Sanders.
Funeral services for Mr. Sanders will be held Sunday, April 12, at 3 p.m. at Rock Sink Baptist Church in Old Town, with Pastor Al Paulson and Pastor Dustin Logan officiating.
Interment will follow in Rock Sink Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
