A satellite photo taken Monday, April 20, shows a large plume of smoke originating from a nearly 9,000-acre fire in Clinch County, Ga. being carried by high winds to the southwest. Much of Taylor County experienced a haze of smoke due to the plume, raising concerns of local wildfires. “We want to remind everyone to be extra cautious right now as wildfires are impacting our region,” Taylor County Emergency Management Danny Glover said on Monday. As of Tuesday, the Florida Forest Service was battling two three-acre fires in Taylor County.
As of Tuesday, the Florida Forest Service (FFS) was actively battling more than 100 wildfires that have burned an estimated 12,000 acres across the state, as Florida continues to experience one of the worst droughts in years.
