The Taylor County Commission has unanimously agreed to apply for a second Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grant to help fund the construction of sidewalks along Old Dixie Highway, the scene of two pedestrian deaths in the past three years.
On Nov. 3, the commission held the second and final public hearing on the grant submission to the FDOT Transportation Alternative Program for the fiscal year 2021 cycle to construct a sidewalk along Old Dixie Highway from Plantation Road to Foley Road (CR 30). Applications to the program are submitted five to six years in advance. On Monday, the commission approved a resolution required for the county’s application to the program.
