Lou Ellen Parker, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at the home of her oldest son in New Smyrna Beach with her three sons and daughters-in-law at her side.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1929, in Perry to Mary Hattie (Rowell) and John Daniel Poppell.
Lou Ellen was preceded in death by: her parents; her 12 older siblings; and her husband of 69 years, Pete.
She is survived by: her three sons, Steve (wife Bernadette) Parker, Jim (wife Susie) Parker and Alan (wife Maria) Parker; seven grandchildren, Danny Parker, Kristi (husband Jeff) Temkin, Jennifer (husband Kevin) Scalabrin, Curt (wife Jodi) Parker, Steven Parker (fiancée Sasha), John (wife MacKenzie) Parker and David (wife Michaela) Parker; and 12 great-grandchildren.
As a young woman, Lou Ellen worked for a law firm in Tallahassee. She married the love of her life, Pete, on Dec. 21, 1950. They moved to Central Florida settling in their permanent home in Orlando in 1959 where they raised their three boys. Lou Ellen dedicated the rest of her life to caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Lou Ellen greatly enjoyed having family visit and she loved to cook for them, and everyone loved her food.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 17, at noon at Bear Lake United Methodist Church in Apopka followed by interment at Highland Memorial Garden. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
