    Henry Earl Vann

    Henry Earl Vann, 74, passed away on Nov. 18, 2020, in Perry.

    He was born May 10, 1946, in Foley to John Frances Vann and Christine Mae Anderson Vann.

    Earl honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

    He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was a member of Corinth Primitive Baptist Church in Lee.

    Earl worked with Gulf Telephone for more than 20 years, and then retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company.

    He was a longtime minister of the Primitive Baptist Church in Florida and Georgia.

    Earl loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting with family, and was the proudest Papa, a devoted husband, and loving Daddy.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Christine Vann; his brothers, Franklin Vann, Phillip Vann and John Henry Vann; and his sister, Louise Alford.

    He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Melba Vann; his children, Pam Whiddon, Adam Vann (Jessi) and Ricky Vann; four grandchildren, Aubriana, Zoey, Huntley and Addisyn; and siblings, Virginia Aman (Tommy), and Charlie Vann (Pat); as well as a host of nieces, nephews and was lovingly known as the neighborhood “Papa.”

    Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Elder Glenn Thomas and Elder Carl Tharpe officiating.

    Interment services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Tallahassee National Cemetery with Elder Bert Holden officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
