As the city council searches for ways to fund more than $2 million in capital improvement projects scheduled for the upcoming budget year, at least one city council member has suggested the City of Perry hold off on annual 3% pay raises to employees in an attempt to avoid raising utility rates.
Councilwoman Shirlie Hampton made the suggestion at the city’s July 28 meeting during a discussion on the City of Perry’s preliminary budget, which City Manager Taylor Brown described as “still very much in progress.”
