    Charles Levi Pinson Sr.

    Charles Levi Pinson Sr., a retired Staff Sergeant, was born Aug, 27, 1953n in Thomasville, Ga., and was a resident of Taylor County since the mid-1970s. He left this temporary home on earth on Dec. 2, 2023, at the age of 70 and ascended to his forever heavenly home. Charles was born to Harry Augustus Pinson and Elsie Smith Pinson. He honorably served his country in the United States Army for 20 years, doing three tours of duty in Germany and one tour in Iraq during Operation Desert Shield, and Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged from duty from Fort Hood, Texas, on Dec. 31, 1991, and returned to Perry, where he called home. Charles was of the Methodist faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was employed there as a custodian during the mid1990s and early-2000s. He ran the sound board and participated as the technician guy who set the sound system for the chimes. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Harry Augustus Pinson Elsie Smith Pinson; and his brothers, Danny Lamar Pinson, Donnie Pinson and Tommy E. Pinson. Mr. Pinson is survived by: his wife of 17 years, Linda Pinson; his brother, Raymond Pinson of Wisconsin; his son, Charles “Lee” Pinson Jr. of Perry; his step-sons, Shane Bailiff of Perry, Jacob and Amber Bailiff of Chatsworth, Ga., and Kenneth Bailiff of Perry; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Dylan, Hannah, Dustin, Ashlyn, Jacob, Johnny and Gavin from Georgia; three greatgrandchildren, Aiden, Joshua and Violet; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved furry companion, Pecan. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
