Richard Swearingen, 89, passed away on Feb. 4, 2025, after an extended illness in Tallahassee. Ricky was born on Feb. 10, 1935, in Foley to William and Lucille Swearingen. He attended Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship. After high school, he was drafted in the United States Army. He worked at Procter and Gamble as a manager in the powerhouse for more than 41 years. In his spare time, he loved all sports, especially FSU Sports. For many years he coached little league baseball in Taylor County where he was a mentor for many young men. He was preceded in death by: his parents William and Lucille Swearingen; his infant son, Ronald J. Swearingen; two sisters, Inez Goodman and Evelyn Swearingen; two brothers, Clayton and Nolan Swearingen; and two nephews, Bill Goodman and Stacey Walker. Ricky is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Vivian Swearingen; his three sons, Rick, Rob and Tony Swearingen; his nephews, Larry Goodman, Greg Walker, Michael Moore, and Billy and Joey Swearingen; four nieces, Elisa McCall, Tammy Norris, Debbie Ferrell and Susan Lundberg; and three grandchildren, Brendon, Kailey and Ryan Swearingen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. at Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship with Brother Eddie Pridgeon, Brother Ricky Bolden and Brother Bill Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will be held in Pineview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of f lowers, donations can be made to Big Bend Hospice.
