State contractors have been very busy pulling more than 134,314 cubic yards of debris from canals, rivers, streams and marsh areas since Hurricane Helene. That’s the equivalent of covering 10 football fields with debris 30 feet deep. Taylor County’s total amount of debris removed is by far the most of any of the other 18 counties where FDEM has assisted with waterway debris removal.
In addition to roadside debris removal, clean-up efforts along the county’s many waterways are also continuing, with more than 134,000 cubic yards of debris removed from rivers, streams, marsh areas and canals so far.
