    Ralph Dwayne Shiver

    It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ralph Dwayne Shiver, who left us peacefully on Sept. 24, 2025, just two days after celebrating his 72nd birthday. A lifelong resident of Perry, Ralph was born on Sept. 22, 1953. He was a beloved father and a cherished friend to many. Ralph proudly served in the United States Navy. After his military service, he went on to work as a project supervisor at Watkins Engineers & Construction in Clyattville, Ga., where he was known for his hard work and dedication. Outside of his job, Ralph loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed f ishing, hunting and growing a garden. He enjoyed cooking and could whip up a delicious meal that brought everyone together. Whether it was out on the water or around the dinner table, he was known to have a sense of humor and always knew how to make every moment special. Ralph was preceded in death by: his parents, Gilbert Shiver and Iris Johnson-Shiver; two sisters, Judy Russell and Lavada Sue Shiver; and a brotherin-law, Glenn Knowles. He is survived by: his daughter, Dana Shiver, and husband, Keith Counce, of Perry; three siblings, JoAnn Knowles, Robert Shiver, and wife, Martelle, all of Perry, and Melissa Nixon, and husband, Gary, of LaPorte, Texas; two grandchildren, Khelsie Russell and Kaleb Poppell; and one great-granddaughter, Layla Poppell; as well as numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will carry on his legacy with love and fond memories. A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
