    Susan Diane King Lee

    With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Susan Diane King Lee, who went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2026, at the age of 72. Susan Diane Lee Susan was born on Nov. 2, 1953, in Perry to the late Mitchell King and Leonce O’Steen King. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, James Lee, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage, and a loving mother to their two daughters, Heather and Samantha. A graduate of Taylor County High School, Susan went on to attend Heritage Christian University majoring in Bible. Over the years, she served her community in many roles, including as a secretary for Procter & Gamble in Perry, a bank teller at Listerhill Credit Union and an elementary school secretary. Susan faithfully supported her husband’s ministry, helping to establish the Greensboro Church of Christ in Greensboro, Ga., and the Eastpoint Church of Christ in Eastpoint. As a preacher’s wife, she taught children’s Bible classes, organized Vacation Bible Schools and hosted youth events. She also dedicated herself to a Bible correspondence course for inmates at the Franklin County Jail, partnering with her husband’s jail ministry. Her life was marked by a steadfast passion for serving the Lord. Outside her ministry, Susan loved the beauty of God’s creation and gardening – she could name nearly every local flower and tree. She loved Macy Gray and singing acapella Christian hymns in her beautiful alto voice. She also cherished her time as a Girl Scout troop leader for Heather’s troop, organizing events like “glam day,” knife safety lessons and camping trips. Susan is survived by: her husband, James; her daughters, Heather Lee Laurence and Samantha Lee; and her cherished grandchildren, Kade, Gwyn, Karys, Aiden and Lilly. She is also survived by her sisters, Madelyn Collins, Patsy Tedder and Phyllis Yates. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary King Sr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, at 11 a.m., at Burns Funeral Homer Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service (beginning at 10 a.m.). Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery Lamont. in Wear purple or floral if you like, in remembrance of Susan.
