Lorna Inell Green Shaw, a beloved member of the Salem community, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on Sept. 14, 1933, in Salem to Leon and Annie Russell Green. Lorna was a graduate of the Salem School and lived there all her life. She served as the postmaster of the Salem Post Office for 45 years. Her friendly smile and helpful nature made her a favorite among the townsfolk. Outside of work, Lorna enjoyed spending her time working in her yard, tending to her flowers and plants, which brought her immense joy and a sense of peace. Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Shaw. She is survived by: her loving daughter, Jacqulyn Johnson of Salem; her son, Billy Shaw of Liberty, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lorna’s life during the public visitation on Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at Salem Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Brother David McMullen officiating. Interment will follow in Mingo Cemetery. In her memory, the family is accepting flowers or donations may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Missionary Fund. We invite everyone who knew and loved Lorna to join us honoring her remarkable spirit and the joy she brought to so many. She will be greatly missed, but her love and kindness will continue to resonate within the community she cherished so deeply.
