Phyllis Elaine Orr, 75, passed away on Sept. 28, 2025, in Cheboygan, Mich. Born on Sept. 1, 1950, Phyllis dedicated her life to helping others. Though she wore many hats throughout her career, she found her true calling as a social worker at the Cheboygan County Council on Aging. Her commitment to teamwork and service left a lasting impact on those she worked with and served. Phyllis was a devoted wife to Samuel Orr and a loving mother to James (Tena) Bohn, Sharon Coppernoll, Emma (Greg) Green, David (Bonnie) Orr and Bob (LeighAnn) Orr. She was cherished by her nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also remembered by her siblings, Harold and Tom Poe, and Janet Dewberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olive and Ruth Poe, and her inlaws, Milford and Dorthy Orr. Her life was marked by deep community involvement. She served as president of the Perry Florida Women’s Club and was a passionate supporter of children’s school activities and senior center fundraising efforts. A multi-ribbon awardee at the Cheboygan County Fair, Phyllis took pride in her baking and canning skills. She brought joy to family holiday gatherings with sing-alongs and ensured everyone felt included. A faithful member of Life Worship Center in Cheboygan, Phyllis found strength and fellowship in her church community. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m. at Life Worship Center, 901 W. VFW Rd., Cheboygan, MI 49721. A luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of f lowers, donations may be made to the Life Worship Center Building Expansion Fund. Phyllis’s warmth, dedication and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
